Planning the first days together
Starting daycare is a big step for your child and your family. At Garderie Saint-Bruno, we do our best to make the transition smooth. Before the start date, we invite you for a visit to meet the team, see the facilities, and ask any questions.
We will share practical information: what to bring, settling-in schedule, and daily routine. Our goal is for your child to feel secure and for you to leave with peace of mind.

Frequently asked questions – registration and first days
Answers about the settling-in period, what to prepare for the first day, change of clothes, and daily routine.
-
How does the settling-in period work?
The settling-in period lets your child get used to daycare gradually. We usually suggest half days or short stays at first, with a parent present if needed, then we increase the length according to your child's pace. The team guides you and stays in touch to adjust the schedule.
-
How long does settling-in take?
It varies by child: from a few days to about two weeks. We adapt to each family. The goal is for your child to feel secure before staying a full day.
-
What should I prepare for the first day?
Pack a bag with: a full change of clothes (underwear, socks, top and bottom), diapers and wipes if needed, a labelled bottle or cup, and a comfort object if your child has one. Everything should be labelled with your child's name. We provide a detailed list when registration is confirmed.
-
Why do we need a change of clothes? How many?
Spills, paint, meals, and little accidents are common at daycare. A change of clothes keeps your child comfortable. Plan for at least one full set (underwear, socks, top, bottom) per day, stored in the bag or in the cubby. We will tell you where to leave spare clothes.
-
What does a typical day look like?
Welcome and free play, snack, guided activities or workshops, outdoor play when possible, lunch, rest or quiet time, then afternoon activities and pickup. Snack, meal, and nap times are regular to give children clear routines. We share the exact schedule for your group.
-
Does my child bring lunch or are meals provided?
We provide snacks and, depending on the group, meals or lunch. Details are given at registration. For allergies or special diets, we accommodate; please note them on the health form.
