Summer camp at Garderie Saint-Bruno is designed so children spend as much time as possible outdoors: at the park, in the yard, and around water play and sports activities. We believe summer is the perfect time to move, discover nature, and make memories as a group. Our program focuses on outdoor play, safety, and fun, while respecting each child's pace.
Park outings
We regularly take the children to the park. These outings allow them to run, climb, play with balls, and explore the environment safely. Green spaces are ideal for free play and guided activities: races, tag, discovering trees and insects, and picnics in the shade. Staff provide constant supervision and adapt outings to the children's age. Park trips are a cornerstone of our summer: they support gross motor skills, teamwork, and contact with nature.
We choose parks suited to young children, with safe equipment and shaded areas. Children learn to follow group rules (stay within the area, listen for gathering signals) while enjoying the freedom of the outdoors. These moments also strengthen the bond between children and educators in a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere.
Water activities
Water activities and water play are summer highlights. We plan age-appropriate sessions: play with shallow basins, watering cans, water spray (under supervision), or outings to equipped spaces when possible. The goal is to cool off, introduce children to water in a fun way, and encourage cooperation. We always prioritize safety: close supervision, shallow water, and clear rules to avoid slips or unwanted splashing.
We ask families to bring a bathing suit (or comfortable change of clothes for water play) and a towel labelled with the child's name. Water activity days are communicated in advance so parents can pack the bag. These moments are eagerly awaited and help make summer camp a memorable experience.
Sun protection
Sun protection is a priority during summer camp. We ask parents to provide sunscreen suited to their child (broad-spectrum, appropriate SPF) and to tell us of any allergies or products to avoid. Staff apply sunscreen before outings and reapply according to exposure time and product recommendations. We also encourage hats or caps and light clothing that covers shoulders when the sun is strong.
We limit activities in direct sun during the hottest hours and favour shade and breaks indoors or under shelter when needed. Children have access to water at all times to stay hydrated. These habits let everyone enjoy the weather safely and teach children good practices for the future.
Sports and team activities
We offer an introduction to sports and team games outdoors. Activities are age-appropriate: ball games (throw, catch, roll), motor circuits, relay races, group games like tag or capture the flag. The focus is on the joy of moving, cooperation, and following simple rules, rather than on performance. Children discover teamwork, helping each other, and fair play in a caring atmosphere.
These moments support physical development and self-confidence. We vary activities so everyone can enjoy taking part, whether they prefer running, throwing, or group games. Educators encourage effort and celebrate progress without pressure on results. The goal is to foster a taste for physical activity and group play, valuable foundations for the years ahead.
Sweet treats
Sweet treats are part of summer's little pleasures. We organize special occasions when children can enjoy ice cream or a cool snack together in the shade. These moments build a sense of togetherness and create happy memories. We take into account each child's allergies and dietary restrictions; parents inform us at registration and we adjust choices accordingly.
Summer camp also means picnics, fresh fruit, and well-earned breaks after play. We balance physical activity and rest so children go home each day with stars in their eyes, without being exhausted. If you would like to register your child for our summer camp, contact us or add yourself to our waitlist via the Admissions page.
